Pork & Pepperoni Burgers - Sure to Please!

My kids aren't picky eaters.  They have two choices when it comes to dinner - take it or leave it! However, when we have friends over for dinner, I like to make something that will appeal to a picky child's palate as well as be something adults will find tasty. When I came across a recipe for Pork & Pepperoni Burgers, I just had to make them for a backyard cookout with our friends! We are always happy to support pork producers! Being grain farmers, we know that pigs eat the corn we grow:).

The ingredient list is so simple & relatively inexpensive!
Pork and Pepperoni Burgers:

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground pork
½ c. pepperoni, chopped
½ c. bread crumbs, Italian-style dry
½ c. pizza sauce, prepared
½ tsp. oregano leaves, dried
1 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded
6 sandwich buns
Directions:
In medium bowl, stir together ground pork, pepperoni, bread crumbs, pizza sauce, and oregano. Shape mixture into 6 patties. Grill or broil burgers for 5 minutes per side, until an instant read thermometer reads 160 degrees. Place burgers on buns; top each patty with cheese. Serves 6.

Fall is the perfect time of year to grill!

These burgers were a huge hit! I will definitely make them again soon!
*This recipe is excellent as is! However, here are a few ideas for variations next time:
  • Add a clove or two of crushed garlic to the burger mixture
  • Add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese to the burger mixture
  • Top burger with additional pizza sauce upon serving
  • Sprinkle chopped black olives or diced green peppers over the top of the burgers
